Ephesians 6:18-20

“We must begin to believe that God, in the mystery of prayer, has entrusted us with a force that can move the Heavenly world, and can bring its power down to earth.” –Andrew Murray

How does Paul tell us to pray, and under what circumstances (18)? What do you think it means to “pray in the Spirit”? For whom should we pray (18-19)? What are Paul’s prayer requests (19-20)? What clues can we find to his situation (19-20)? What is his primary concern (19)? Why do you think he twice uses the word “fearlessly”? What do you think he means by “ambassador in chains”?

When have someone else’s prayers made a difference in your life? How have those times inspired you to bolster your prayers for others? Describe your prayers for “all the Lord’s people.” What do you pray for your spiritual leaders? How does God want you to enrich these prayers? What changes can you make in your life to increase your prayers for those facing spiritual opposition?

Ask the Lord to reveal a situation for which spiritual alertness is critical. What is the Holy Spirit showing you? How does He specifically want you to “be alert” as you engage the situation? In what ways does this passage boost your willingness to confront trying spiritual circumstances?
