Read Genesis 3:11-24
Sin has infected the world. The goodness of humanity has become riddled with the disease of sin. Evil has broken the harmony of Eden. Humanity is distorted, relationship fractured, Creation in Crisis.
The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. And the Lord God said, ‘The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live for ever.’ So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life. Genesis 3:21-24
Adam and Eve are banished. Evicted from Eden. But the story does not end there. A rescue plan is in operation. There is a way back. A way back home.
Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behaviour. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation – if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant. Colossians 1:21-23
Today, how are you alienated (isolated, estranged, far away) from God?
How will you grasp the hope of the gospel and know that you have been reconciled to God through Christ, holy in His sight, without blemish, free from accusation?
In what ways will you communicate the gospel to others, today?
