#AdventWord Day 6 #WORSHIP

Adventword_6_Worship
“…since we have a great priest over the house of God,  let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.  Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.”

-Hebrews 10:21-23

#AdventWord Day 5 #REPENT

Adventword_5_Repent
“Low self-esteem causes me to believe that I have so little worth that my response does not matter. With repentance, however, I understand that being worth so much to God is why my response is so important. Repentance is remedial work to mend our minds and hearts, which get bent by sin.”

-John Ortberg, The Me I want to be

#AdventWord Day 4 #FORGIVE

Adventword_4_Forgive“The difference between justice and forgiveness: To be just is to condemn the fault and, because of the fault, to condemn the doer as well. To forgive is to condemn the fault but to spare the doer. That’s what the forgiving God does.”

Advent – People Get Ready…

Advent_FB_ImagePeople Get Ready…

This is ADVENT, it comes from the latin adventus, meaning coming or arrival. It is the four week season of preparation for the coming of Jesus at Christmas. A good celebration requires proper preparation.

During December we mostly confuse this readiness with a ridiculous and stressful race into christmas with excessive shopping and excessive eating. The quiet reflection of advent is often lost in the noise and busyness of the lead up to Christmas. “Buy more stuff. Buy more than last year.”

John the Baptist was the “anti-santa” of the day. “Prepare the way for the Lord” he shouted across the river Jordan. (Matthew 3)

“People get ready” for the Messiah.

Advent makes us stop and get ready.  To look at the clutter and busyness of our lives and reflect. Advent is a Holy season, a time to reflect on what it means to “be holy”.

Advent is a season of expectant waiting. Tapping into a sense we have that, ‘all is not well”. A longing for the world to be made right again. It’s a season for restless hearts and people weary of a broken world who want, with all of our being, to know there’s more than this. It is a time for hope.

I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. Ps 130:5

We hope for restoration.

We hope for the renewal of all things.

It’s also a time of adventure. Something is about to happen in your life. Do you dare to share the experience…

This season why not share in a Global Advent Calendar with #cvadvent ‪#‎AdventWord‬

#AdventWord Day 2 #PROCLAIM

Adventword_2_Proclaim “How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
who bring good tidings,
who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
‘Your God reigns!’
Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices;
together they shout for joy.
When the Lord returns to Zion,
they will see it with their own eyes.

Isaiah 52:7-8

#AdventWord Day 1 #WAKE UP

Adventword_1_WakeUP
“Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.

-Ephesians 5:14

Look clearly and honestly at your life – and take action. Now. For now is the time to waken out of sleep. That is the watchman’s trumpet call – the clarion call of Advent. Now is the time for you – a choice to be made, a decision to be taken. – Br. Geoffrey Tristram
